Well, it's been a month since the last blog, but we've been very busy, which means this is R week! Welcome to our March Roundup!

Riding a Dream

It's that time of year again! The Riding A Dream Academy, part of the British Racing School, are once again offering a 5 day residential course to 14-16 year olds this May. The Residential Week is free to attend and will take place at the School 26-30th May. It’s a great opportunity for young people who don’t own or loan their own pony to ride every day, spend time looking after our horses and ponies, train in their jockey training suite and go on a series of trips to the races, gallops, a stud farm and equine hospital. They particularly welcome applications from young people from diverse ethnic communities and disadvantaged backgrounds.

Or other confectionary items required for the RDA Dressage Competition on April 11th. As always, shop bought or home made cakes are welcome, but if you home make please include a list of ingredients so we can be allergy aware.

Renovation

Some of you will already be aware that following an access audit by WECIL in 2022 we were able to secure some money from Bristol City Council to renovate our building and make it more open-plan and accessible to everyone. We have been working really hard in the background to make sure everything is in place, and we are now looking very likely to start work over the summer holiday!

Round the woods on an Easter Egg Hunt!

Easter Fun at the Avon Centre on the Good Friday 18/4

In the morning we will host Easter Egg Hunt in our beautiful woodlands. Mid April timing means there will be a carpet of blooming bluebells which will make the egg hunt very special! Tickets (£5) are available via our website shop: https://www.theavoncentre.org.uk/shop-1

During the day it will be time for the riders with their own horses to enjoy our first Fun Ride of the year!

Roll up, Roll up!

Our Open Day is on May 4th, and we are looking to have a tombola, used toy stall and lots of games and raffles. If you can donate anything (dried goods or cans for the tombola, toys for the toy stall or something special for the raffle!) we would very much appreciate it. And if you'd like to help on the day please reach out to Mojca. We look forward to seeing you there.

Recycling

As you know, we get money for old clothes, so if you're having a clear out, please drop in your preloved (but wearable) clothes and we will get some cold cash for them! It's win/win!
